GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), UN experts said Israel’s killing machine claimed the lives of 160 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in July, despite more than 10 months having passed since the ceasefire was announced, raising renewed questions about what remains of the agreement on the ground.
In a statement issued on Monday, the experts said the number of Palestinians killed since the ceasefire was announced in October 2025 had exceeded 1,200, as Israeli occupation forces continued attacks on densely populated areas and displacement zones, including Al-Mawasi.
The UN experts said most of the recent killings occurred away from the area marked by the so-called Yellow Line, stressing that the attacks did not spare women, children or the elderly, including people who had sought shelter in tents and areas they believed were safer.
They said there is no longer any safe place in the Gaza Strip amid continued Israeli attacks targeting civilians, shelters and densely populated areas.
The experts also warned of continued changes on the ground, including the westward movement of the so-called Yellow Line, alongside the construction of a 23-kilometer barrier along it and the continued destruction of homes.
They said these measures are contributing to the forced reshaping of Gaza’s geography through displacement, at a time when residents are already living under destruction, displacement and severe shortages of basic needs.
The experts condemned attacks on hospitals, shelters for displaced people and humanitarian workers, stressing that genocide is continuing unabated.
They also warned that food aid is not entering Gaza freely, while some products arriving through commercial channels lack sufficient nutritional value.
The UN experts noted that the International Court of Justice concluded in its advisory opinion issued on July 19, 2024, that Israel’s continued presence in the occupied Palestinian territories is unlawful and called for ending it as quickly as possible.
They added that the court also found Israel’s settlement policy to be in violation of international law, saying that instead of compelling Israel to comply, it has been allowed, two years later, to accelerate the same policies the court deemed illegal.
In the occupied West Bank, the experts described Israeli settler violence and the seizure of Palestinian land as shocking amid escalating attacks targeting civilians.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with US support, has launched its war on the Gaza Strip, killing more than 73,000 Palestinians and wounding over 174,000 others, most of them women and children.
According to official Palestinian figures, the assault has destroyed around 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure.
The statement was signed by several UN experts and special rapporteurs, including Francesca Albanese, special rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territory; Sofía Monsalve Suárez, special rapporteur on the right to food; Máriangela Simão, special rapporteur on the right to health; Leopoldo Maldonado Gutiérrez, special rapporteur on freedom of opinion and expression; and Morris Tidball-Binz, special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions.
