UN: Gaza facing massacre and forced displacement aimed at erasing Palestinian life

NEW YORK (Palestine Foundation Information Center)A senior United Nations official has described the daily killings and starvation tactics carried out by Israeli occupation forces (IOF) in the Gaza Strip as part of a systematic operation to eliminate Palestinian life.

Jonathan Wynn, head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OCHA), said during a recent media briefing, “What we are witnessing is a massacre—it is hunger being used as a weapon, it is forced displacement, it is a death sentence against people who are simply trying to survive.”

The briefing, republished by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), highlighted that these factors “appear to constitute a process of erasing the lives of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.”

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, at least 516 Palestinians have been martyred and over 3,799 injured by Israeli shelling and live fire while attempting to reach aid distribution centers. Another 39 individuals remain missing.

Despite the staggering death toll and worsening humanitarian crisis, Israel has moved forward with a controversial aid plan launched on May 27, bypassing the UN and major relief agencies.

The so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,” backed by Israel and the United States, has been widely condemned and rejected by the United Nations as a politically motivated and inadequate response to famine conditions.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation continues issuing evacuation orders for various areas across the Strip, particularly in the northern regions and the southern city of Khan Yunis.

Rights organizations and Palestinian officials warn that these actions are part of a larger strategy of forced displacement—a central component of what many experts are now calling a genocide.

On Tuesday, Israeli Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi publicly called for accelerating the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza—echoing long-standing Israeli policy goals. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly referenced population displacement as one of the key objectives of Israel’s war on Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel—backed by the United States—has waged an unprecedented genocidal war on Gaza, killing and injuring over 187,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children. More than 11,000 remain missing, presumed dead beneath the rubble.

Hundreds of thousands are displaced, while starvation and diseases spread rapidly in what international organizations have described as a deliberate and systematic campaign of extermination.
