SANA’A (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Yemen’s armed forces said they launched drone and missile attacks on two Israeli military sites and two US warships in response to recent deadly strikes on their country and the ongoing genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
“We launched a drone attack at a vital target in the city of Ashkelon and another drone attack at a military target in the city of Eilat,” military spokesman Yehya Sariee said in a statement aired by Yemen’s al-Masirah satellite channel.
He did not name the targets in both cities in southern Israel.
“As part of confronting the American aggression … we targeted the aircraft carrier Truman and its escort warships in the northern Red Sea, using two cruise missiles and two drones,” spokesman Sariee said, referring to the USS Harry S. Truman.
“We also targeted the aircraft carrier Vinson (the USS Carl Vinson) and its escort warships in the Arabian Sea, using three cruise missiles and four drones,” he added.
Sariee reaffirmed that Yemen’s counterattacks “will continue” against Israel and the US naval forces in the region.
According to al-Masirah TV, the attacks against Israel and the US warships were carried out in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the US airstrikes in Yemen have been continuing. Early in the day, the al-Masirah TV said the death toll from US airstrikes on Sunday night against a popular market in the Sha’ub neighborhood in Yemen’s capital Sana’a rose to 12, while 30 other civilians were wounded.
Also on Sunday night, al-Masirah reported other US airstrikes on several locations in the northern Yemeni provinces of al-Mahwit, Saada, and Marib.
Tensions between the armed forces of northern Yemen and the US military have escalated since Washington resumed deadly airstrikes on targets in Yemen on March 15 to deter the Ansarullah (Houthi) group, which controls the military establishment in northern Yemen, from targeting Israel and cargo ships linked to Israel.
