Yemen’s armed forces target Nevatim airbase, vow to expand operations

SANA’A  (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Yemen’s armed forces launched a missile towards Israel (1948 occupied Palestine) on Tuesday, prompting air raid sirens to sound across several locations in southern Israel.

The firing of the Yemeni missile came after the Israeli occupation government resumed its US-backed genocidal war in Gaza, killing at dawn Tuesday more than 400 people and injuring hundreds, according to Palestinian health authorities. The Israeli escalation ended weeks of relative calm after talks to secure a permanent ceasefire stalled.

“We targeted the Nevatim airbase in Negev with a ‘Palestine-2’ hypersonic missile, which successfully achieved its goal,” spokesman for the Yemeni army Yehya Sariee said in a televised statement last night.

Yehya Sariee warned that Yemen would expand its range of targets within occupied Palestine in the coming hours and days unless the Israeli occupation regime halts its aggression against Gaza.

“Yemen — its leadership, people, and army — will not stand idly by, watching these massacres being committed against our brothers in Gaza,” Sariee said. “We will dedicate all our capabilities and resources to the defense and support of the oppressed in Palestine until these crimes stop.”

He further reiterated Yemen’s commitment to confronting the US and blocking Israeli navigation in the Red Sea until “the aggression stops, the siege is lifted, and humanitarian aid is allowed into Gaza.”

The Israeli occupation army claimed they had intercepted the missile before it entered Israeli airspace.

In a related context, Yemen’s Ansarullah leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi threatened in a televised speech aired by al-Masirah TV on Tuesday night to “resume escalation at its highest levels and will do everything we can against the Israeli occupation if the renewed aggression on Gaza does not stop.”

“If Israel succeeds in eliminating the Palestinian cause, it will expand its crimes to other countries without any restraint,” al-Houthi warned.

He further asserted that the Israeli occupation resumed its war with American support and consultation, adding that “yesterday, Israel massacred hundreds of Palestinians — most of them were children and women.”

Al-Houthi emphasized that “there are no longer any red lines,” warning that “the occupation has shown no regard for any considerations as it persists in carrying out genocide, massive destruction, and horrific killings.”

Following the missile attack on the Israeli airbase, multiple US strikes targeted areas in Yemen, including the cities of Saada and Hajja, Yemen’s media outlets reported early on Wednesday. No casualties have been reported in the fresh US attacks.

Meanwhile, spokesman Yehya Sariee said that Yemen’s armed forces detected hostile military movements in the Red Sea in preparation for launching a large-scale aerial attack on the country.

Sariee said that the armed forces targeted the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman and other warships with missiles and drones, thwarting the US attack.
