GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Gaza’s interior ministry said in a statement issued on Sunday that its security forces were reintroduced to the main streets of Gaza following the start of the ceasefire agreement earlier today.
“Our forces have been deployed to support citizens, secure property, and deal with the remnants of the occupation”, the statement reads, adding that they will “intensify their efforts in the coming days in all governorates to restore order and activate citizen services.”
“We call on our people to further unite and cooperate to overcome the effects of the barbaric aggression,” the statement added.
Recent months have seen widespread looting of aid convoys and the emergence of criminal gangs on the streets of Gaza after the Israeli army regularly targeted local security forces, which kept order and provided security for aid convoys.
