DAMASCUS, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement strongly condemned on Tuesday the two explosions that targeted the Syrian capital, Damascus, saying attacks on Syria’s security and stability represent a blatant assault that serves suspicious agendas aimed at destabilizing the region and spreading chaos.
In a press statement, the Movement expressed full solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic, its leadership, and its people in confronting “treacherous criminal acts” targeting the country’s security and stability. Hamas also wished the injured a speedy recovery.
In the same context, 18 people, including four police officers, were injured in two explosions near the Ministry of Tourism building in Damascus, in an area close to the residence of French President Emmanuel Macron, who is visiting Syria in the first visit by a major Western leader.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted the Syrian Interior Ministry as saying that internal security forces detected two explosive devices in the area during field operations and that specialized units began taking the necessary measures to dismantle them. However, the devices exploded while preparations for the dismantling operation were underway.
