Hamas: Israeli schemes will not erase Al-Aqsa Mosque’s identity

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement said on Friday that Israel’s Judaization plans and crimes will not succeed in erasing the identity of the Al-Aqsa Mosque or changing its historic features, stressing that the site will remain an exclusively Islamic mosque and that Israel has no sovereignty over it.

In a statement marking the 57th anniversary of the 1969 arson attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Movement said the anniversary comes amid a dangerous escalation led by the Israeli government through intensified provocative incursions, attempts to impose temporal and spatial division, and restrictions on worshipers’ access to and presence at the Mosque.

Hamas warned of the danger of recent decisions by far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, which allowed Jewish prayer books to be brought into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and organized public Talmudic rituals to be held inside its courtyards.

The Movement said these measures represent an extension of the arson attack and an ongoing assault on the holy sites of the Muslim nation.

Hamas called on Palestinians in Jerusalem, the West Bank and the 1948 occupied territories to intensify their presence and steadfastness at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to thwart Israel’s attempts to impose a new reality inside it.

It also urged Arab and Islamic countries and international organizations to act urgently and shoulder their historic responsibilities in protecting Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, while supporting the steadfastness of those defending the site against Israeli plans.
