GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement has mourned Palestinian prisoner Emad Sarhan, a 48-year-old from the city of Haifa, who was martyred inside Israel’s “Gilboa” prison after spending more than 24 years in captivity.
In a statement on Sunday, Hamas said that “his martyrdom represents a new crime added to the record of violations committed against Palestinian prisoners.”
Hamas affirmed that Sarhan died as a result of the policy of deliberate medical neglect and torture used against Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, warning that detainees face escalating violations that threaten their lives.
“The Israeli prison service continues to deprive prisoners of medical treatment, holding them in harsh conditions as part of a systematic policy aimed at abusing them and breaking their will,” Hamas said.
However, the Movement expressed its belief that such measures against prisoners would fail to undermine their resilience and determination.
