OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Senior Hamas official Haroun Nasser has warned that the daily desecration of the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards by extremist Jewish settlers reflects an escalation in the ongoing religious war being waged by the Israeli occupation regime.
In a statement on Wednesday, Nasser stressed that the settler break-ins and practices at the Aqsa Mosque are part of attempts to Judaize the Islamic holy site and divide it temporally and spatially.
Nasser added that settler groups receive support from the Israeli occupation government for their efforts to impose Jewish rituals within the Aqsa Mosque compound.
The Hamas official affirmed that the Aqsa Mosque is an Islamic religious site, adding that all the attempts to change its identity or features would not succeed.
He urged the Palestinian masses, especially those in Jerusalem and 1948 occupied Palestine, to intensify their presence at the Aqsa Mosque.
He also called on the Arab and Islamic countries to take action in support of the Mosque and protect it against Israeli violations.
The Hamas official made the remarks amid heightened tensions in Occupied Jerusalem, where repeated settler break-ins and provocations at the Aqsa Mosque have fueled concerns among Palestinians about efforts to change the status quo at the holy site
