IOF launches raids and arrest campaign across West Bank

WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) carried out a wide-ranging raid and arrest campaign across the West Bank overnight and into early Tuesday, with operations centered on the city of Nablus to secure a settler visit to Joseph’s Tomb.

Large numbers of Israeli troops entered eastern Nablus, escorting buses carrying settlers to the site. During the operation, the IOF reportedly fired stun grenades, prevented journalists from accessing the area, and searched vehicles near the Iraq al-Tayeh junction east of the city.

Under Israeli military protection, settlers entered Joseph’s Tomb east of Nablus, while Israeli forces simultaneously raided the village of Kafr Qallil and the New Askar refugee camp.

The raids extended to multiple areas across the West Bank, including Hizma; the Al-Abbasiya neighborhood in Silwan; Qalandia refugee camp, north of Occupied Jerusalem; Deir Ballut, west of Salfit; the Al-Tira neighborhood in Ramallah; Ya’bad, southwest of Jenin; and Idhna, west of al-Khalil.

The IOF troops also entered the towns of Deir al-Ghusoun and Saida north of Tulkarem, raiding homes and arresting Yazan Saed Badran after storming his house in Deir al-Ghusoun. A young Palestinian was reportedly beaten during a raid on Qalandia refugee camp.

In a separate development, an Israeli flag was raised on the summit of Mount Tarousa west of Dura, south of al-Khalil, in a provocative act amid escalating settler activity across the West Bank.

The developments come as Palestinian activists continue calling for increased resistance and confrontation against Israeli forces and settlers throughout the occupied West Bank.
