WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli authorities on Sunday issued stop-work orders for 13 residential structures in the town of Beit Surik, northwest of Occupied Jerusalem.
According to a statement by the Palestinian Authority’s Jerusalem Governorate, several residents received notices ordering them to halt construction on 13 housing units in the town.
The governorate said the orders are part of an ongoing policy targeting Palestinian construction in the Occupied Jerusalem area.
Israeli authorities continue to target Palestinian communities in Occupied Jerusalem through demolition and stop-work orders, while imposing strict restrictions on building permits for Palestinians, alongside continued settlement expansion and the confiscation of Palestinian land.
In its monthly human rights report, the Jerusalem Governorate documented 20 notices issued during May, including demolition orders, eviction notices, stop-work orders, and land confiscation measures across the city.
The report also recorded 84 demolition and land-leveling operations during the same period. These included 21 cases of forced self-demolition, in which Palestinian residents were compelled to demolish their own homes to avoid heavy fines, as well as 56 demolitions carried out by Israeli municipal authorities and military bulldozers.
Additionally, seven land-clearing operations targeted Palestinian-owned land and property, with demolitions and bulldozing reported across several neighborhoods and towns in the Occupied Jerusalem area.
