OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli municipality in Occupied Jerusalem has issued a demolition order for the home of Maher Sarhan, the son of slain Jerusalemite resident Samer Sarhan, in the Al-Bustan neighborhood of Silwan, south of Aqsa Mosque.
According to the Jerusalem Governorate, municipal crews raided the property on Sunday and delivered the demolition notice to Maher Sarhan. The house, which has stood for approximately 30 years, is home to four family members and is among the latest properties targeted under Israel’s ongoing home demolition policy in Occupied Jerusalem.
In its monthly human rights report for May, the Jerusalem Governorate documented 20 new Israeli notices involving demolition, eviction, construction freeze, and land confiscation orders across the city.
The report also recorded 84 demolition and land-leveling operations during the same period, including 21 cases of forced self-demolition, in which Palestinian residents were compelled to demolish their own homes, and 56 demolitions carried out by Israeli municipal authorities and heavy machinery.
An additional seven land-leveling operations targeted Palestinian-owned land and property in several Jerusalem neighborhoods, according to the report, reflecting the continued implementation of demolition and land confiscation measures across occupied East Jerusalem.
