OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (The Palestine Information Centre)The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds (LP4Q) issued a statement on Saturday holding Israel and the international community responsible for the “explosion” that occurred in the Gaza Strip earlier today and called for seizing the events to grant the Palestinian people their rights in full in order to avoid a much “bloodier” consequence.

The League of Parliamentarians for al-Quds affirms that the Palestinian explosion that occurred this morning is a result of the continued Israeli occupation’s assault on Al-Aqsa Mosque, the annexation of Palestinian lands, provocation of Palestinian sentiments, escalating Judaization of the occupied city of Jerusalem, and the relentless siege imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2006, which has caused catastrophic suffering in the region.
The league emphasizes that what has happened is a clear indication of the failure of the international justice system and international institutions, as well as the complicity of major powers with the Israeli occupation, enabling it to extinguish any opportunity for justice for the Palestinian people. It was natural for the Palestinian people to exercise their right to resistance and return to their land.
The league calls for seizing this opportunity to empower the Palestinian people in obtaining their rights and not allowing the situation to escalate into a bloodier confrontation with unpredictable consequences. The league also urges the world and various parliamentary bodies to hold the Israeli occupation accountable, demanding its compliance with international law and decisions, and rejecting the policy of forceful dictates and imposition of the status quo.
The league holds the occupation fully responsible for the repercussions of the events due to its ongoing attacks, obstinacy, and disregard for international law, as well as its continuous aggression against the Palestinian people.
