Beruit, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem has affirmed that a change of leadership in the occupying Israeli state will not change the course of confrontation, stressing that the only solution lies in the complete Israeli withdrawal from occupied Lebanese territory.
Speaking on Wednesday evening, Qassem said that the weapons of resistance derive their legitimacy from the constitution. He rejected any discussion of disarming the resistance as long as the occupying Israeli forces continue to hold Lebanese territory.
He stressed that the occupying enemy would fail to maintain its control over Lebanese land, adding that the only option left for Tel Aviv was a complete withdrawal from all occupied territories and a humiliating retreat.
According to Qassem, steadfastness and the continuation of armed resistance constitute the only legitimate path to liberating all Lebanese territory, a position he said was guaranteed by the Taif Agreement. He affirmed that Israeli military pressure would not succeed in imposing a new reality outside the framework of existing agreements and relevant international resolutions.
He called for the immediate and complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanon, compliance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, and the deployment of the Lebanese army south of the Litani River.
In this context, Qassem described the so-called “framework agreement” as invalid, arguing that it violated Lebanese laws and the presidential oath.
In contrast, he welcomed the Iran-US agreement and the associated memorandum of understanding, saying that these arrangements had demonstrated their effectiveness on the ground in helping reduce tensions.
Despite the withdrawal of Hezbollah elements from areas south of the Litani River and the ceasefire agreement announced on June 3 under US mediation, bombardments, Israeli airstrikes, and demolitions continue in various parts of southern Lebanon.
