GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Security and family sources revealed on Wednesday that Samah Marei al-Arabid, the wife of detained Internal Security officer Moein al-Arabid, had confronted an Israeli special force alongside two of her sons after it raided the family home west of Gaza City on Tuesday, in an attempt to provide cover for her husband’s withdrawal from the area.
The sources told Quds Press that al-Arabid, 47, had been preparing for the wedding of her son Obaida when an Israeli special force stormed the family’s home west of Gaza City.
They said al-Arabid clashed with the Israeli force alongside two of her sons, who were seriously and critically wounded, in an effort to cover her husband’s withdrawal from the house. She was later martyred after being hit by heavy gunfire in several parts of her body.
The family disclosed details of the mother’s “heroism and great sacrifice,” saying the confrontation left her two sons seriously wounded, while her husband and a number of his companions were arrested.
According to the sources, the mother and her sons, backed by resistance members who were present at the site, confronted an Israeli special force of about 10 heavily equipped members deployed to carry out the operation.
“Had it not been for aerial fire cover, the Israeli force would have found itself in an extremely difficult situation,” the sources said.
They added that the mother and her sons “rushed without fear or hesitation to confront the force, sacrificing themselves for their father,” noting that they continued the confrontation despite the sounds of aircraft and explosions, and without retreating in the face of an Israeli special unit.
The Israeli occupation army carried out a special operation on Tuesday in the al-Katiba area, near the Ansar government compound west of Gaza City, targeting a resistance leader.
According to the sources, the operation resulted in the killing of several members of the Israeli force during a clash with resistance security members, while Internal Security officer Moein al-Arabid was arrested after being wounded in the confrontation with the Israeli force.
