OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), A 16-year-old Palestinian was killed and two other children were wounded by Israeli army gunfire on Sunday evening in the Qalandiya refugee camp, north of Occupied Jerusalem.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health identified the victim as Walid Nidal Abu Sneineh, 16, confirming that the two injured children sustained gunshot wounds to their lower limbs.
According to local sources, Israeli forces closed the entrances to the Qalandiya refugee camp in both directions and fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters at residents.
The incident comes amid an ongoing escalation by Israeli forces across the occupied West Bank, marked by repeated military raids into cities, towns, and refugee camps, as well as shootings and arrests that have resulted in Palestinian casualties.
Earlier on Sunday, medical sources reported the death of a four-month-old Palestinian infant after Israeli forces prevented his transfer for urgent medical treatment through the Deir Ammar checkpoint, west of Ramallah, which has remained closed for the past five months.
According to local reports, the infant died after Israeli forces blocked his passage through the Deir Ammar gate despite his critical medical condition.
Since October 8, 2023, the occupied West Bank has witnessed a sharp escalation involving Israeli military operations and settler violence. According to official Palestinian figures, the violence has resulted in the killing of 1,175 Palestinians, the injury of 12,919 others, the arrest of approximately 24,000 people, and the displacement of 33,000 Palestinians.
