Washington – (Palestine Foundation Information Center): U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a temporary de-escalation in military tensions with Iran, suspending operations for two weeks.
In his statement, President Trump said the decision followed discussions with Pakistan’s top leadership, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, and was made at their special request. The Pakistani leadership had appealed to halt attacks against Iran.
He clarified that the suspension is conditional on Iran immediately reopening the Strait of Hormuz fully and safely for navigation.
President Trump described the move as a bilateral ceasefire, stating that the U.S. has already achieved its military objectives and even exceeded its planned goals.
According to Trump, the time has now come to take decisive steps toward long-term peace with Iran and stability in the Middle East.
He also revealed that the U.S. received a ten-point proposal from Iran, which is being considered a viable basis for negotiations.
Trump added that most of the disputed issues between the two countries have already been resolved, and the two-week period will be used to finalize the agreement and implement it.
Highlighting the importance of this development, President Trump said he considers it an honor to play a role in resolving this longstanding regional issue and advancing peace in the Middle East.
