DOHA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Qatar has categorically denied allegations of interfering in Israel’s elections or funding efforts to sway voter turnout.
Doha dismissed on Thursday the claims as a disinformation campaign by Israeli politicians seeking to drag the Gulf state into domestic political disputes.
Spokesman for the Qatari foreign ministry Majed al-Ansari highlighted the contradictory nature of the claims, pointing out that Israeli accusations ranged from buying Benjamin Netanyahu’s loyalty to funding the Israeli left and swaying Arab voter turnout, “as if Doha controls the entire political spectrum.”
Al-Ansari called such baseless Israeli accusations as “absurd and dangerous,” saying the persistent attempts to drag Qatar’s name into Israel’s election rhetoric reflected an “excessive obsession” that defied logic in certain Israeli political and media circles.
He emphasized that Qatar refuses to be made “a scapegoat for the political failures of some Israeli politicians.”
