DOHA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement said that the head of its Political Bureau, Khalil Al-Hayya, received a phone call from Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.
During the phone conversation, Al-Hayya reaffirmed Hamas’s commitment to serving the Palestinian people and their just cause, safeguarding their national principles, and continuing efforts to protect Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank, and wherever they are.
For his part, the Qatari Prime Minister welcomed Hamas’s acceptance of the roadmap for completing the implementation of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, expressing hope that it would help end the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Strip and fulfill their aspirations for security and stability.
Al Thani stressed the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities by pressuring Israel to honor its commitments under the agreement and end its ongoing violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, ensuring the full implementation of the roadmap and paving the way toward security and stability in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier, Hamas said that Israel’s commitment to ending the killings and halting its attacks is the fundamental prerequisite and the first step toward implementing the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, stressing that progress depends on Israel fully carrying out all provisions of the first phase.
In a statement issued on Friday, Hamas said it and the Palestinian factions had engaged responsibly and positively with the negotiation process and the mediators’ proposals aimed at completing the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement. The Movement said the Palestinian factions reached a unified national position reflecting a spirit of partnership and responsibility, driven by their commitment to protecting the Palestinian people, addressing their humanitarian needs, and safeguarding their national rights.
Hamas also stressed that its agreement to include the issue of heavy weapons within the framework of the agreement was explicitly conditioned on a complete end to all forms of Israeli aggression, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, the implementation of early recovery efforts, the establishment of the administrative committee, the deployment of an international protection force, the dismantling of armed groups and militias established by Israel, the launch of reconstruction efforts, the guarantee of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
