GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, has mourned commander Farah Hamed, a member of its military council in the occupied West Bank, who was assassinated in an airstrike in Gaza City on Wednesday.
In a statement released Thursday, the Brigades praised Hamed’s long record of resistance, highlighting his role in the al-Qassam-affiliated Silwad cell, which carried out multiple West Bank operations during the Second Intifada.
The Brigades said that Hamed’s martyrdom would not stop the resistance, vowing to continue the struggle against the Israeli occupation despite the heavy losses.
The Brigades urged Palestinians throughout the West Bank to rise up and defend their land and Jerusalem against the occupation.
49-year-old Farah Hamed was martyred yesterday in an Israeli strike on a motorcycle in the Sheikh Ajlin area, west of Gaza City.
After spending nearly eight years in Israeli jails, Hamed was released under the 2011 prisoner swap deal and subsequently exiled from the West Bank to Gaza. He was arrested in 2003.
Hamed was born on November 4, 1976, in Kuwait to a Palestinian family from the town of Silwad in Ramallah.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in social studies from Al-Quds Open University in Gaza in 2016. He later obtained a diploma in military science from Al-Quds University in 2018, followed by a master’s degree in history from the Islamic University of Gaza in 2020.
