OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli police forces on Wednesday demolished a Palestinian home in the Beit Hanina al-Tahta neighborhood north of Occupied East Jerusalem, leaving an entire family homeless.
Local sources said Israeli troops, accompanied by heavy machinery, raided the area and demolished the approximately 1,076-square-foot (100-square-meter) home of Mahmoud Mleihat.
The house was home to 10 members of the Mleihat family, including a person with disabilities, all of whom were displaced as a result of the demolition.
The demolition is part of Israel’s ongoing policy of destroying Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank, often citing a lack of building permits.
Human rights organizations have repeatedly stated that the restrictive planning and permit system imposed on Palestinians makes obtaining construction permits extremely difficult, while demolition orders are frequently used as a tool to pressure Palestinian residents and contribute to their displacement from their communities.
