Nablus (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Jewish settlers have expanded their attacks to include mosques across cities, villages, and refugee camps in the occupied West Bank, setting fire at dawn to part of the Imad al-Din Zengi Mosque in the town of Bazariya, northwest of Nablus.
Local sources reported that after Jewish settlers failed to fully enter and burn down the mosque, they set fire to one of its rooms and spray-painted racist slogans on its walls.
With this latest attack, the number of mosques targeted or subjected to arson attempts since the beginning of 2026 has risen to at least 11.
The latest wave of attacks began on February 23, when settlers set fire to part of the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Mosque in the town of Tell, west of Nablus. This was followed by an attack on the Mohammad Fayad Mosque in Duma, south of Nablus, on March 12, and an attack on a mosque in the town of Jibiya, northwest of Ramallah, on May 15.
In June, settlers attempted to set fire to Al-Marah Mosque in Deir Dibwan and Al-Nour Mosque in Burqa, east of Ramallah. Earlier that month, on June 17, they also targeted the Grand Mosque in Jaljulia and Al-Farouq Mosque in Mazari’ al-Nubani, north of Ramallah.
During July, Jewish settlers targeted Al-Taqwa Mosque in al-Tawani, in Masafer Yatta; Al-Rahma Mosque in Qusra, south of Nablus; and a mosque in the town of Kur, south of Tulkarm.
These attacks come amid a growing wave of settler violence targeting Palestinian villages and civilian property, as calls continue to intensify for the protection of holy sites and accountability for those responsible for such attacks.
