NEW YORK (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) warned on Sunday that half of the population of the Gaza Strip is at imminent risk of famine, including around 15,000 pregnant women.
In a post on its X account, UNFPA said that half of Gaza’s population is at imminent risk of famine. “This is unbelievable and can be avoided.”
UNFPA stressed that famine is at the door in Gaza due to Israel’s blocking of aid access, stressing the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza given the dire needs of the population for humanitarian assistance.
Earlier, the Palestinian health ministry revealed that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli bombardments and shooting attacks, which started on October 7, climbed to 35,984 martyrs and the number of wounded surged to 80,643 people.
