Hamas calls for international force as first step in implementing Gaza ceasefire

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Hamas Movement said on Tuesday it hopes the arrival of the international stabilization force in the Gaza Strip will mark the beginning of implementing the ceasefire agreement, including separating Israeli forces from Gaza’s civilian population and preventing further ceasefire violations.

In a press statement, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem called on the Peace Council to begin the practical implementation of the Gaza ceasefire plan.

He said the plan should start with the deployment of the national committee for the Gaza administration, the delivery of meaningful humanitarian aid, Israel’s withdrawal from the Strip, and the launch of reconstruction efforts, describing reconstruction as a fundamental right for all Palestinians in Gaza.

The statement came after vehicles and equipment belonging to the international stabilization force arrived ahead of its planned deployment under US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire initiative.

The Peace Council released images it said showed the arrival of logistical vehicles and equipment for the force, about a week after Israeli media reported that advance units of the multinational force had reached Israel.

Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth previously reported that personnel from four participating countries had arrived in Israel as part of preparations for the force’s deployment in Gaza during the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

The force has reportedly begun establishing a logistical support center near the Kerem Abu Salem crossing in southern Gaza, along the Egyptian border.

Israel has also built a dedicated base for the force opposite central Gaza, near Kibbutz Re’im, about four miles from the Gaza border. The base is expected to accommodate around 10,000 troops and will serve as a coordination hub for the multinational force, as well as an alternative to the monitoring center in Kiryat Gat, where personnel from several countries, including the United States, oversee implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
