TEHRAN, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The United States launched a new round of strikes on Iran overnight Wednesday, hours after President Donald Trump said the temporary memorandum with Tehran to end the war was “over.”
US Central Command said the strikes targeted around 90 Iranian military sites, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coast.
Iranian media said the attacks hit several southern cities, including Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Bushehr, Chabahar and Konarak. Reports also said parts of Chabahar lost electricity and that fragments from US projectiles struck Imam Ali Hospital in the city.
Iranian air defenses reportedly intercepted hostile targets near Bandar Abbas and downed a hostile drone over southern Iran.
Trump warned that US strikes would increase significantly if Iran continued attacking ships in the Strait of Hormuz, saying Washington’s response would be “20 times” stronger each time.
Iran’s UN envoy said the attacks violated the UN Charter and represented a major breach of the memorandum of understanding signed between Washington and Tehran.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vowed a “crushing” response after US strikes reportedly targeted railway bridges in Iran, in what US officials described as the first attack on Iranian infrastructure since the ceasefire.
Iran later launched attacks on US military sites in the Gulf, with the IRGC saying it targeted American bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, including Arifjan and Ali Al-Salem in Kuwait and Juffair and Sheikh Isa in Bahrain, using missiles and drones.
The IRGC warned that its response could expand to other US bases in the region if American attacks continued.
